Software Craftsman

Point2 is looking for motivated developers with strong problem solving, system design, and performance tuning skills to become part of the technical team developing enterprise software for the Real Estate industry. You will be working on the systems underlying homes.point2.com and agent.point2.com solving many of the exciting challenges we face in aggregating and syndicating the world’s real estate listing data and creating tools for agents and brokers to manage those listings.

Candidates must be team oriented, be able to work in a fast-paced, open environment, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy keeping up with industry and technical advancements.

Why work on the Agent Team?

• Empowered to design and deliver the best solution
• Building an industry standard platform already used by 50,000 Real Estate professionals
• Re-architecting existing applications to a loosely-coupled SOA
• Developing extremely scalable and highly performant applications
• Working as part of a heterogeneous environment (Windows, Linux, Mac)
• Delivering working software into production every two weeks
• High degree of collaboration across the whole company and within each team

A Craftsman must have outstanding communication skills, a strong desire to work as part of a team and skills in all three of the following:
• C# or Java
• SQL
• Web Technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

The craftsman role at Point2 extends beyond just simple software development.  A craftsman is expected to:
• Raise the standard of development on the whole team
• Mentor and share knowledge as a state of being, not an activity
• Be able to make sweeping change without breaking the team, the app, or a sweat
• Know other people who operate at this same level
• Live and breathe the lifestyle associated with Agile/XP development
• Have experience developing scalable enterprise web applications

You probably have experience in a half a dozen other languages, know how to run workshops or presentations, and have led small teams from time to time.
